Advantages of Learnerships
A leanership is the situation where a learner is studying while at the same time working in his/her respective field so as to acquire practical skills necessary in their field of work, such as information technology. The learnership programme helps to gain necessary skills that will open up better employment or self-employment opportunities in a world of high competition for jobs. Since students from different learning institutions but taking the same courses get to interact with the company during learnerships, they sharpen their social life skills by helping each other and doing duties together thus helping to grow confidence in what they do.
At the beginning of the learnership programme, there is a contract that must be signed by the learning institution from which the learner is getting theoretical skills, the learner himself/herself and the institution offering the practical skills through learnership programme. Through this program, there is advanced exposure to learning by the student since training involves how to tackle specifically what they will be doing at work when employed later on, while at the same time gaining extra skills through personal experiences. When a learner successfully completes a learnership programme, they are fully equipped to be productive at their fields when they encounter problems that require the knowledge they had acquired earlier on in their life. Students who have completed the learnership programme are allowed by laws governing education activities of a country to go for a higher education certificate since they have met all requirements in a learning experience.
Another impact of the programme on the student is that they become responsible employees later on and they can work under minimal supervision because the employer is confident in their ability to apply the practical skills they acquired during the programme. The the programme gives a person skills required in job market, therefore, providing improved access to income generation and a better personal lifestyle. Learners get motivated to become better workers when they successfully solve problems in the field and this motivation when carried on to a time when they are employed means that their performance is to the maximum of their ability which is of great influence to the business in a positive way. In the process of getting skills while undergoing a learnership program, the student gets to do a lot of practical activities in the field and since there are many students during a given time, the end result is that the company will benefit since most of its tasks are completed. In conclusion, the learnership programme helps an organization to identify hardworking individuals amongst the students and they can be hired to work, which is a very good idea because the students get attached to the organization in some way and will work effectively to meet their goals.
